Easy Reads

easy reads title

There’s something about a story.

About to hit the ole hay, I looked around my bed, hand poised to grab a book within reach, when I froze. I didn’t want a marketing book, a physics book, a psych book, a tech-ish book, a pasta book, or a Churchill book. A void. Before bed, I don’t have the required level of intake space needed to dive into these subjects. I am ready for a story, characters and a plot to get lost in. More brain is involved compared to a movie, but less than said books. (personal theory)

It feels like work at this hour.

I worked a 9 hour day, did my taxes and played some guitar in the kitchen. Poor me, I know.

Think time’s over.

I’m up, but only partially.

Over productivity

I have developed a moderate obsession to the wowing back to work podcast. It’s turned me on to related reading and listening material, which all-together has continuously been blowing my mind. This new awareness of the (DO IT, stop over thinking, just move your hands, get the ball rolling and make something) mentality, has trumped prior anxieties. I am too familiar to, what Steven Pressfield calls, The Resistance, or the evil voice obstructing you from finishing whatever it is you’re doing. I’m squashing that chump.

Enter flip-side.

Chill-laxivity has been lacking on the schedule. Following along with someone else’s story is a great way to put the brain on stand-by gracefully, before sleep-mode.

Thesis statement: relax, it’s ok.
